Step-by-step recipes for typical shots. Each step links to its section.
Person on a natural background
- Import the shot. Set a short IN/OUT (10–20 frames with fast motion).
- Track: type "person" or click two or three points on the person; Track all layers.
- Check the Hard in Solo. Fix a bad frame with a point and track again.
- Enhance Matte: Auto enhance. Then open Refine.
- Set Fine detail mix; choose All frames, paint marks where the edge is wrong and press Track fixes.
- Widen IN/OUT to the whole shot and run Track and Auto enhance again: the app processes the frames that need work.
- Edge Fix if you need clean edge colour.
- Export → Copy to Nuke → Ctrl+V in Nuke.
Green screen shot
Track → Auto enhance → Edge Fix with despill → Export.
- Track the subject (a text prompt like "woman" works well on a clean screen).
- In Enhance Matte run Auto enhance. Check the result in Refine.
- Edge Fix: Spill Colour Green, Sample the screen, protect the skin with Pick colour, judge on Grey card, run.
- Export the matte and the Edge Fix run.
Removing an object
- Track the object, including the frames where it enters and leaves.
- Cleanup: Match layer crop, a background prompt, effect rectangles for its shadow.
- Run on a short range at low resolution; check with A/B.
- Run the whole range; export the take from Artefacts to export.
Fixing a bad edge
- Find the frames in Refine (play in Loop, zoom 200–400%).
- Choose All frames and paint Background over leaked background, Unknown over a hard or wrong edge, Object over holes.
- Mark a few key frames, press Track fixes, play the range again.
Long shots
- Work in short IN/OUT ranges and check the result before processing the next range.
- Check the first chunk fully before you run the rest overnight.
- Watch the video memory monitor. If a job runs out of memory, see Troubleshooting.
